Last lesson I told y'all:

Waiting to Exhale is a movie, not a lifestyle...

Well, that applies to Groundhog Day too.

And I was out here living my best groundhog life, repeating the same mistakes over and over again in different, prettier fonts.

Last lesson I said next Thursday. Then I told LinkedIn Monday. Then I said Tuesday. Then another Monday. It's November. 🙃 Stay with me. That's literally the lesson.

So much has happened since we last shared a business Mom lecture together. If you’re not tapped in to our YouTube behind-the-scenes journey, catch up below.

Lord have mercy, it was a LOT.

🗣 “HEY SIRI, play Lorda Mercy”

I was truly stuck in a loop. Repeating the same cycles.

POV your business Mom and her mistakes all summer 2026

NO MORE.

Lessons are back, every Monday moving forward.

After 18 months of inconsistency, this newsletter is finally UNSTUCK.

Welcome back, business fam.

(And stay until the very end for a few exciting updates after my sign-off 😉)

AS PROMISED, we're gonna talk about what to do when you're trying, but still stuck in a loop.

😬 THE PROBLEM

you're stuck in a loop

All summer, my internet went out. Not all at once. Just enough to ruin the week. Every week.

They reset our modem remotely. Fixed. 😀
They sent us a new modem. Fixed. 😅
They replaced the router. Fixed. 🥹

And every time, it worked. For a day. For an hour. Sometimes for two whole minutes. And every time, we said the same thing: "it's fixed."

Then, it would fail again. I’d drive all the way to my coworking backup spot only to get a text from my husband: "internet's back, babe" 🙄

Back to square one. Every time.

You've got a router too.

  • The client you keep re-pitching.

  • The plan you rebuild every January.

  • The promise you keep making bigger to cover the last one.

When you're doing everything right and still ending up where you started, you're not behind. You're in a loop.

Looks kinda silly when you can see it yourself, huh?

🤔 THE REALIZATION

urgency is not priority

The last time the router went out, I lost my patience.

After hours of chatting with an AI bot, I finally pushed support to send a real person. He found it in about five minutes. A fried wire.

Me after 3 months, 2 modems, and an AI chatbot missing the mark.

Here's the sneaky thing about a fried wire. It works. For a while. Right up until it doesn't.

So every time it came back on, we called it fixed. Not because it was fixed, but because it was working. And the second it worked, we stopped looking.

We were in such a rush to find a solution that we accepted the first fix.

Every reset was urgent. The wire was the priority. And nobody touched it, because everybody followed the same script.

I once had a wire like that in my business too.

My wire wasn't my calendar. It was my excitement.

I used to get an idea, get giddy, and tell EVERYBODY. LinkedIn post, IG story, group chat, newsletter. The promise existed before the plan did.

Then the doubt crept in. Then life happened. Then I missed it. And to make up for it? A bigger announcement. After all, you can’t disappoint someone after getting them excited.

That's how "see you next Thursday" turned into 18 months of inconsistency with “Love, your business Mom.”

From weeks to months without podcast episodes to the same with the newsletter.

I felt it for months before anybody saw it.

Back in Lesson 2, I told y'all: you feel it before you see it.

A wise person once told me that you’ll receive the same lessons over and over again until you finally learn. I’m displeased to say they were 100% right.

Speaking of finding the wire: it’s real hard to see what’s broken when you’re the one standing in front of it. Sometimes you need somebody to come take a look.

A quick word from today’s sponsor:

Find what’s slowing your GTM.

Most GTM problems aren’t one big failure. They’re one or two weak spots quietly dragging down the rest.

The free GTM Audit scores your go-to-market across four dimensions, then sequences a 90-day roadmap for your stage.

Drop your URL. Get your score in about 10 minutes.

SEE! Even HubSpot knows you gotta call somebody out to check the wiring. Now, onto the solution 💃🏻

💪 THE SOLUTION

go find the wire

🗣 “HEY SIRI, play ‘I can see clearly now’ by Johnny Nash”

Review.

The tech didn't just look at the router. He followed everything connected to it, all the way back into the wall. Do the same. Zoom out past the thing that keeps breaking and look at what feeds it. For me, the missed Thursdays weren't the problem. The announcements before them were.

You can't always see the wire from inside the wall, so get outside eyes: a mentor, a friend who'll be honest, a structure that tells you the truth.

Replace.

Our internet didn't keep dropping because we were bad at internet. It kept dropping because our approach was wrong.

Swap what isn't working, not what's easiest to swap. New software is a new router. A new planner is a new router. If the wire's fried, they'll drop too. If your process is wrong, you'll just automate your problems.

For me, the replacement was GHODWA. I do a LOT of things.

POV your business Mom at work

Media, an agency, 1:1 embedded work, creative strategy, collabs. For years, all of it ran on the same fried wire: say it first, figure it out later. When I moved back to North Carolina, I put everything under one umbrella and broke it into lanes. Now every idea gets a home before it gets an announcement.

Repeat.

Don't call it fixed because it's working. Two good weeks isn't proof. Watch for the shoe to drop, because there's always another shoe. Then review again.

❝

If you've tried the same fix twice, it's not a fix. It’s a loop.

your business Mom

🤷🏽‍♂️: "ok business Mom, I found the wire... now what??"

💁🏻‍♀️: "Next week, we're gonna talk about what to do when you’re out of a loop. You’re vibing and pushing forward. Then, the song changes and everybody has to move."

until Monday—

  • a small “yes” you follow through on beats the big “yes” you keep sweating over

  • if your internet is out, it will probably go out again 🤣

  • YOU ARE ALLOWED TO SAY “let me get back to you on that”

And it’s never too late to “start today.”

I’m on YouTube now 🫣

And I don’t just mean the podcast.

The podcast is back tho 😊

My lovely colleague Jacqui joins us on S1 E16.

As many of you know, I share a lot of behind-the-scenes content on LinkedIn and my Instagram Stories.

Now, I’m taking an even bigger leap in hopes of sharing what it’s really like to be a whole person, run a business, and not completely lose your mind.

If you enjoy these newsletters, it’s likely you will enjoy these glimpses into my life and work behind the lessons I share. Here, I cover all the in-between that we simply don’t have time to pack into a lesson.

So far, I’ve taken you through the first week of my 30s + the insane 2 months after.

Just last week, I shared 72 hours in Atlanta (yes, that included the drive 😭) where I made connections, balanced client work, and even walked a red carpet.

I put a lot of love into this one. Can’t wait for you to watch it unfold.

Room 2B

Before you gear up for holiday season, my colleague Nina and I are hosting the Collab Lab, so you can build with friends, while keeping the friendship intact.

Room to Ask ☕

I'm also hosting Room to Ask with Aaliyah Taylor on November 25: a free, virtual Q&A for 20 people. Career, community, culture, creativity, nothing is off limits. Bring one good question and request a seat by November 9.

#FindThemFridays has returned 🔍

Every Friday, I spotlight creators you should know. This run is FTF 30 Under 30(k): 30 creators with under 30k followers. Come find them with me and follow along on LinkedIn.
